Network Operations Engineer (Tokyo)

As a Network Operations Engineer at Twitter you will be working to monitor and maintain the reliability and performance of our network. You will work with vendors and our engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve network operations and performance issues. Twitter’s Infrastructure Operations group manages a fast-paced and constantly growing network that seeks to implement cutting-edge technology to power the systems behind one of the world’s largest websites and social media platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive fault mitigation through intensive monitoring of network data

• Monitor network operations, investigate reported alarms and resolve service impacts as they occur
• Handle events and work closely with vendors, internal engineering team and data center operations to resolve service issues
• Contribute to development and improvement of operational procedures and documentation
• Participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation

Qualifications

• 3 years experience with large scale network support
• Demonstrable knowledge of OSI and TCP/IP network model and operations
• Routing protocol troubleshooting experience, specifically BGP, OSPF, IS-IS and MPLS.
• Track record of practical problem solving, excellent communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to troubleshoot issues with industry standard network monitoring tools

• BS/MS in CIS or IS and/or equivalent related experience.
• Fluency in English and Japanese

Desired Skills

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Scripting and automation skills to address recurring tasks.

• Experience configuring and supporting NMS tools, specifically Nagios, Cacti,& Arbor
• Good understanding of Linux/UNIX
